Leadership
At the helm of The Automotive Future is J.R. Ibarra, an accomplished executive with over two decades of experience in operations management, business development, and supply chain optimization within the automotive and semiconductor industries. As the General Manager, J.R. draws from a rich background, having held key leadership roles at NUMMI, Toyota, Futuris Automotive, and Lam Research.
J.R. began his career at Toyota, where he was trained in Japan by Toyota Production System (TPS) experts, gaining deep insights into lean manufacturing and continuous improvement. He went on to manage critical operations for Tesla’s Model S seating production at Futuris Automotive, establishing a new plant that met rigorous quality and efficiency standards. His ability to lead high-stakes operations was further demonstrated when he launched a multi-shift interiors facility for Yanfeng Automotive, driving significant cost reductions and operational improvements.
In addition to his automotive expertise, J.R. was hired by Lam Research during the global chip crisis, where he played a pivotal role in resolving complex global supply chain issues and ensuring continuity for the company’s global spares business and helped Lam navigate one of the most challenging periods in the semiconductor industry.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, J.R. is adept at leading cross-border operations and expanding The Automotive Future’s global reach, particularly in Mexico. He holds an MBA and a Master of Arts in Leadership from Saint Mary’s College of California.
